We have been eating out twice a day across Montelpuciano and Montalcino for nine days now and this has been the best meal we have had so far. Incredible pasta. Friendly service. And true local rustic cuisine. Simply excellent, with some of the most competitive pricing to match. How this only has 4.4 I have no idea!!

Osteria di Porta al Cassero, Montalcino – A Tuscan Gem My second visit today to Osteria di Porta al Cassero has only reinforced what a true gem this restaurant is in the heart of Montalcino. The food is an exquisite journey through classic Tuscan flavors, offering rich, decadent dishes that perfectly capture the essence of the region. Every bite feels thoughtfully crafted, a true celebration of local cuisine. Apart from the excellent food you can indulge yourself, one of the standout features is the extensive wine list, which focuses heavily on the region’s pride: Brunello di Montalcino. The wine selection caters to both connoisseurs and those looking for a more affordable indulgence. While the premium bottles are a treat for any wine lover, the house wine sold in jugs is surprisingly high in quality and an excellent option if you’re traveling on a budget. The family running the staff is knowledgeable and passionate, offering great insights into food and wine pairings. Their expertise enhances the dining experience, yet they are welcoming and warm, making it easy to relax and enjoy.

The most fantastic, authentic and delicious food we have had so far in Tuscany. Their bruschetta is delish and had their special truffle homemade pasta. It was to die for! A must go if you are in the area.

Excellent local food. From the "cheese and salami" to the pinci or the panzanella... Deliciously fresh. Friendly service!

We loved every single fish! We ordered tripe and two different pici pasta: truffle and ragú. I tried tripe in Rome but didn’t like it, but I really enjoyed tripe I ate here! We first ordered truffle pici and we had to try the other pici pasta because it was so tasty. We were debating between two desserts, and our server brought a little piece of tiramisu for free, which was very thoughtful.

Best meal in Montalcino so far. Very delicious and super reasonably priced. The restaurant was full and I fully understand why. The lasagna in particular, was amazing. Great experience. 5 stars from here

Fabulous local meal. Excellent local wine selection that is reasonably priced. Just €15 more than at the vineyard. They have both Brunello and Rosso as well as other tuascan wines. Prices are very good lots of locals come here too. Would definitely come back.
